Until 13th March 1998, the Sikhs used the Hindu lunar calendar to determine their feast days and festivals. They now use their own Nanakshahi calendar, which aligns with the Gregorian calendar as shown below. The date is often followed by the letters NE.
Sikh Festivals
Sikhs celebrate the birthdays of their ten Gurus: the spiritual teachers or preceptors of Sikhism. Two in particular are celebrated as festivals.
Birthday of Guru Gobind Singh
Guru Gobind Singh was the tenth and last of the Gurus. He instituted the 'five Ks' and founded the Khalsa brotherhood.
Vaisakhi
This is the Sikh New Year festival, which also commemorates the founding of the Khalsa by the tenth Guru (Guru Gobind Singh) in 1699. It is also spelled Baisakhi.

  Holi
Is a festival shared with Hinduism: a celebration of spring where people light bonfires and make music.
Diwali
Diwali, The Festival Of Lights, is the most popular of all the festivals from South Asia. It is an occasion for celebrations by Hindus as well as Jains and Sikhs.
Birthday of Guru Nanak
Guru Nanak was the first Guru. He founded the Sikh faith and taught that there was neither Muslim nor Hindu.
